The Parks Grounds Maintenance worker's primary responsibility is to support the Park Supervisor with all Parks related operations. This work requires the performance of manual work, skilled operations of power equipment. skilled/manual work functions related to maintenance and operation in order to ensure that Parks and Recreational facilities, Parks and athletic fields are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Duties and responsibilities include maintaining all grass and landscaping areas to include areas in and around Parks and Recreational facilities, assisting in field set up, field maintenance, performing janitorial/custodial duties, trash removal, Machine Maintenance, painting, power washing, training and identifying safety issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform tasks related to sports field maintenance (e.g., dragging/raking fields; lining/painting fields; irrigation system operation/maintenance; laying seed/sprigs/sod; fence repair; weed control applications; etc.)
Perform services and repairs as needed to maintain sports fields and park facilities (e.g. construction projects; minor electrical/plumbing repairs; masonry; carpentry; painting; cleaning restrooms/shop/work areas; etc.)
Operate/maintain equipment and machinery used in sports field and park facilities maintenance (truck/trailer; tractor; turf trickster; edger; tiller; aerator; etc.) Provides manual labor functions as directed (e.g. digging holes/trenches; raking; hoeing; lifting; etc.)
Perform janitorial and custodial maintenance of recreational facilities grounds and buildings: to include restroom maintenance and trash disposal.
Coordinate tasks with contractors and other non-departmental staff in the area of park maintenance.
Perform minor maintenance on equipment such as oil changes, filters, blades, hydraulic fluids, part replacement, etc.
Maintain all park equipment, facilities, grass areas and athletic fields by blowing, trash pick-up, painting, mowing, aerating, fertilizing, top dressing, edging and weed spraying, power washing facilities, maintain fences, benches, drinking fountains, sidewalks, restrooms and general repairs.
Prepare and set up for a variety of events.
Requires regular and prompt attendance plus the ability to work well with others and work well as a team.
Promote, organize and maintain an inclusive work environment
Analyze, define and resolve service issues.
Enforcement of policies, guidelines, evaluations, goals, and objectives for the department.
Lead staff within the department or as needed
Actively participate in community organizations to foster a positive city image while maintaining a level of customer service standards by investigating and resolving customer complaints.
Identify maintenance concerns, submit work orders, and report to the supervisor/Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned

Demonstrated computer software proficient and data entry Skill

MINIMAL EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED.
HIGHLY PREFERRED CANDIDATES:
2 years of progressive management experience
1 years of relative programming experience
5 years grounds and maintenance

Must be able to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
Must be able to work alternating shifts, hours and days based on need.
