Relationship Banker
A Relationship Banker is needed to work for a national bank located in Columbus, MS. The Banker will be responsible for establishing and growing relationships within the bank. This involves making sales calls and developing a rapport with the customer or potential customer. This is a full-time position, typical hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Primary Functions
- Responds to referrals from Senior Management and others.
- Adheres to the bank's vision, mission statement, moments of truth, core competencies, sales and service standards, bank policies, bank regulations, and the bank operations manual.
- Actively participates in new business development program.
- Works closely with SRB, RP, and RSCO and presents loan applications for the appropriate approval (loans or annual reviews)
- Works closely with RBGA to prepare loan packages for approval, closings, and post-closing.
- Interviews commercial loan applicants.
- Structures and analyzes new and renewed loan requests and makes loans within lending authority.
- Closes loans.
- Completes file documentation.
- Manages all aspects of an assigned portfolio of loans and relationships.
- Monitors compliance with loan policies and appropriate regulations.
- Assigns appropriate risk grades to loans and relationships.
- Collects past-due loans unless assigned to the centralized collectors.
- Handles customer service matters and inquiries for lending and non-lending issues.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and other necessary software for efficiency.
- Motivation and initiative are essential and must have a sense of urgency and be proactive.
- Willingly accepts and performs all assigned duties and responsibilities and understands the work hours often exceed 40 hours/week.
- Must possess excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of sales principles, the understanding of lending and credit approval processes, and pricing models.
- Ability to present loan commitments to executive management of customers.
- Must possess a high level of analytical skills, effective interpersonal skills, and have the ability to be assertive with sound business decisions that best interest the bank and borrower.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
- Work experience in banking and finance of a minimum of seven years, or equivalent experience.
