Job Title: Village Animal Hospital Receptionist
Job Summary
The receptionist is the first point of contact for clients and their pets. This role is
essential to creating a welcoming, organized, and compassionate environment
while supporting the veterinary team through administrative and client service
duties. The receptionist ensures smooth daily operations by managing
appointments, client communications, and front-desk responsibilities in a fast-
paced animal hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
Greet clients and pets warmly and professionally
Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and texts; respond to inquiries and
relay messages accurately
Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments efficiently
Check clients in and out, process payments, and maintain accurate records
Maintain patient files and update medical information in the practice
management system
Communicate clearly with veterinarians, technicians, and kennel staff
Handle client concerns with empathy and professionalism
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-desk and lobby area
Assist with basic administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and
inventory support
Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards
Handle payment information and follow up
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous receptionist, customer service, or veterinary experience preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced, emotional
environment
Proficiency with computers and scheduling or medical software
Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology is a plus
Compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs as needed
Comfortable working around animals of various sizes and temperaments
Ability to handle emotional situations involving sick or injured pets
